Welcome to 309online.com, PennDOT's official Web site for the reconstruction of the Route 309 expressway in Montgomery County.

PennDOT in late 2010 will complete reconstruction of the Route 309 Expressway when it finishes rebuilding the roadway between Highland Avenue and its terminus at Bethlehem Pike in Lower Gwynedd Township. Reconstruction of the expressway south of Highland Avenue has been completed, including rebuilding of major interchanges at Fort Washington and at Route 152/Easton Road near Glenside. See the Project Overview for more details.

During reconstruction, we'll keep two lanes open in each direction wherever possible on the Route 309 Expressway during peak travel times. However, the southbound expressway remains in a single lane around-the-clock from Bethlehem Pike to Norristown Road/Springhouse due to physical constraints within the work zone.

Off-peak and weekend lane restrictions will be in place at times in other areas during reconstruction of the main line expressway. A number of on- and off-ramps also have been closed during construction. Speed limits are reduced through the work areas as well.

We'll keep you posted here on the details. And if you'd like, we'll send those details, as well as breaking news on this project, to you through our e-mail subscription service. Just click on the Subscribe Today box to the left, and fill out and submit the simple form. Our technology will do the rest.

In the meantime, please bookmark www.309online.com and stop back periodically for all the information you'll need to safely navigate the coming years of construction on Route 309. Feel free to Contact Us with any comments or suggestions on how we can best serve you with this Website, or any other aspect of our operation.

For information on other highway construction in the five county region, or any of the many services we provide, visit our new District 6 Website at www.dot.state.pa.us.

As always, please drive safely, courteously and distraction-free on all our roadways, and respect the lives and livelihood of the men and women who work on our highways and bridges by obeying all posted work zone speed and lane restrictions.
